As Saudi Arabia marks 2026 as its Year of Artificial Intelligence, a new study by Salesforce and YouGov confirms that one of the foundational requirements for the Kingdom's AI ambitions is already in place: a workforce that is ready, willing, and largely optimistic about working alongside AI.
The research, which surveyed more than 1,500 desk workers across 14 countries including Saudi Arabia, Australia, India, Japan, France, Germany, the United Kingdom, and the United States, found that just 15% of Saudi desk workers identify as AI sceptics. That figure places the Kingdom among the most AI-receptive workforces globally, and it arrives at a moment when enterprise adoption of AI is being pushed forward at pace under the Vision 2030 transformation agenda.
The study's most operationally significant finding, however, is not about sentiment. It is about the specific conditions that separate workers who experiment with AI from those who integrate it into their daily practice. Among the workers surveyed who successfully made that transition, a consistent set of requirements emerged: data security rated as a non-negotiable requirement by 69% of respondents, AI that understands their role and context without constant configuration cited by 57%, and a conversational experience embedded within the tools they already use preferred by 60%. One-off demonstrations were consistently insufficient. Structured, ongoing training was the standard shared by those who reached daily use.
Where these conditions were met, the outcomes were materially positive. Among the group of workers who transitioned to daily AI use, 76% became active advocates for the technology within their organisations, and 63% used AI tools every single working day.
For enterprise technology and HR leaders managing AI deployment programmes across Saudi Arabia and the broader GCC, these findings carry direct implications. The cultural receptiveness is already there. The conversion rate from openness to daily use is not a function of further persuasion. It is a function of programme design: the quality of security assurances, the degree of role-specific contextualisation, the depth and continuity of training, and the degree to which AI tools are embedded in existing workflows rather than positioned as separate additions.

High workforce confidence without structured enablement can lead to informal, inconsistent AI use that bypasses governance frameworks, introduces data security exposures, and produces variable-quality outputs at scale. For enterprises deploying AI in regulated sectors including financial services, healthcare, and government, this tension between enthusiasm and governance is a design challenge that requires formal attention.
Saudi Arabia's Vision 2030 technology pillars and the national AI strategy administered through the Saudi Data and Artificial Intelligence Authority are both oriented toward AI adoption that is scalable, governed, and productive.
