Google is expanding its "Personal Intelligence" capabilities in the U.S., bringing highly tailored help to AI Mode in Search, the Gemini app, and Gemini in Chrome. By securely connecting data across the Google ecosystem, users can now receive responses that are uniquely relevant to their personal lives and history.

Since the initial introduction of Personal Intelligence earlier this year, Google has seen users embrace the ability to get help that understands their specific context. The expansion allows the AI to "connect the dots" across apps like Gmail, Google Photos, and Maps without requiring the user to manually provide a history of their purchases or travel memories.

Uniquely Relevant Responses

Personal Intelligence is designed to solve complex, multi-layered queries that traditional search engines struggle with. Here are some of the key ways Google is leveraging this technology:

Tailored Shopping

Find products that match your style and recent purchases. For example, Gemini can suggest a bag that perfectly complements a pair of shoes you bought last month, even matching subtle hardware details.

Technical Troubleshooting

Gemini can help resolve tech issues by referencing purchase receipts in your Gmail to identify the exact device model you own, providing specific debugging steps like power cycling or factory resets.

Navigating the World with Context

Travel and hobbies are also getting a major boost. If you're on a layover, Personal Intelligence can suggest dining options based on your dietary preferences, your current arrival gate, and the time remaining before your next flight boards.

Dynamic Itineraries

Instead of generic "top 10" lists, get recommendations for cities like Chicago based on your unique interests and past favorites. Whether it's local eats or specific neighborhoods, the suggestions are tailored specifically to you.

Availability and Privacy

Personal Intelligence is available today in the U.S. for AI Mode in Search and is rolling out to free-tier users in the Gemini app and Chrome. It is currently limited to personal Google accounts and is not available for Workspace business or education users.

Google emphasizes that these experiences are built with transparency and control. Users choose which apps to connect and can manage these settings at any time. Importantly, Gemini and AI Mode do not train directly on private Gmail inboxes or Google Photos libraries; training is limited to anonymized prompts and responses to improve functionality over time.
